A Quick Sound Booth Assistant Tutorial

NOTE: I will probably update this tutorial with pictures later to make it easier to understand.

The first step is to create a new page:

First put the iPad in landscape mode, and tap the plus sign on the top left of the screen to create a page. Type in a name for the page and tap done.

Next, select the page in the list on the let and tap the plus sign in the top right to add a note or a sound effect object. When the object shows up in the list view, tap on the object to edit its contents. If it is a note, a keyboard will appear that will allow you to edit the text. If it is a sound effect object, a sound picker will come up that will allow you to choose a sound from your iTunes library.

To play a sound effect, tap the play button beside its name. To stop playing the sound effect, tap the stop button beside its name.

Progress Update

There are just a few more finishing touches to put on the app and then it is finished. But for now, here is an overview of what the app is and what it does.

The app allows people who are running the soundboard for live performances to easily organize notes, sound effects, and the cues for the sound effects.

When you first launch the application, it looks like this:

If you tap the plus button in the top left area of the screen, it will allow you to add a page:

You can use pages to organize your notes, cues, and sound effects in any way you want. For instance, if you were using the app to do sound for a play, you could organize it by scene.

Within each page you can add a text object (a note or cue) or a sound. To do this, tap the plus button in the top right area of the screen. This will give you two options:

If you tap the first option, it will give you a text object that you can type up to 500 characters into:

If you tap the other option, if will add a sound effect object. Tapping on this object will allow you to pick a sound from your iTunes library, and you will be able to play the sound by tapping the play button:

The app should be finished and submitted to the app store within a few weeks.

Welcome

Welcome to the website for On My Cue, a software company that is currently developing an iPad app. On this first page of the site, I will hopefully be posting about the app, as well as some info about the process of developing an iPad app. This site is still under construction though, so don’t be surprised if it changes frequently.

(For those of you who have visited the site before, I was unable to copy over the posts and comments when I updated the theme. I will post more info about the iPad app shortly)
